This morning at 3 am Trae decided that nothing else would do, but playing with his always willing Mommy. I tried very hard to keep my eyes open and that sweet little boy entertained. Eventually the exhaustion of motherhood took over and Trae was left up to his own devises to entertain himself.
He didn't start to fall back asleep until 6 and then woke back up just before 9. Then this morning I was watching the news and loving him back to sleep, when suddenly he was in a sleep deep enough be put in his bassinet.
What freedom this allows! I started to run around the house putting away little things that were out of place, finish my bowl of cereal, go to the bathroom for the first time today, etc. when over the sound of the softly playing news I heard a coo. Was that my son? I paused the news and heard nothing. He must still be sleeping soundly. Man was Matt Lauer talking slow today or what? Another coo came from my room. Poor Matt will I ever be able to give him my full attention like the old days? I go to my room to find Trae wide awake, cooing, smiling and giggling to himself. I can't believe it!
My son was really entertaining himself. How often does he do this at night when I am wrapped up in my dream of walking on a beach with the sun beating down while I watch Jordan and Trae play in the water? My baby is growing up SO fast! I love that he was having a good time just being by myself, even though it reminds me that all too soon he will be playing in his room will his big boy toys.
p.s. Completely off topic Trae has this really cute blanket he got from the baby shower that was purchased at Target and in The Office Astrid (Jan's baby) has the same blanket!!! Episode 84

Kel, I totally know. I swear nothing is ever the same once you become a mommy! The middle of the night wake time are the best moments sometimes, if they are happy it is fabulous. Trae seems like such a sweetheart and he is so big. I can't believe it. It was so great to talk to you the other day. Miss you and love you.

I love letting my kids play alone in their cribs. Joshy usually wakes up and plays for a good 20 minutes before he cries for us to come and get him. It's great! Any extra freedom time is always a nice treat!
Trae is SO big! I love chunky babies!
You should talk Jordie into getting you TiVo! That way when everyone goes to sleep you can watch all your shows! WooWoo! Love TiVo!
